Inaba NAOTO 1960-
Born into a family of potters in Marubashira, Iga, whose clay pot workshop dates back to the early Meiji era, he is the fifth generation of his family to carry on the tradition.
He began his career as a potter in 1986 and has since held solo exhibitions at major department stores and galleries throughout Japan. In 2004, he held a solo exhibition at Gallery Gen in New York.
Guided by his belief that “beautiful forms make food more delicious,” he works with natural clay using traditional techniques, creating each piece by hand.
In 2021, he was commissioned to create vessels for a delivery menu by Eleven Madison Park, the Michelin three-star restaurant in New York.
His distinctive work has gained recognition both in Japan and internationally.
